Ybor City Museum State Park is What's Right With Tampa Bay
TAMPA, Fla. - The Ybor City Museum State Park is a hidden gem right in the heart of Tampa. This unique building and the story it tells is "What's Right With Tampa Bay."
"The building was opened in 1980, it had been the Ferlita Bakery for many years," Chantal Hevia CEO of the Ybor City Museum Society said.
She is taking about the Ybor City Museum State Park, the smallest state park in Florida.
Many historical accounts can be seen at the museum, including the first cigar factory in Ybor City. "In April of 1896 already the first cigar has been rolled," Chantal said. "That cigar industry helped build Tampa."The museum is also part of Hillsborough County school curriculum for 4th and 8th graders.
The Ybor City Museum Society is currently working on creating a Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House in Ybor.
