You can now bike from Clearwater to Tampa on the completed Druid Road Trail

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - There’s a new way to get from Tampa to Clearwater and it doesn’t involve taking a car or bus.

With phase four of the Druid Road Trail complete – the city of Clearwater gave us a timelapse of what it would look like to take the trail from the Gulf Coast to Tampa by bike.

The trail runs along Druid Road from Glen Oaks Park on the West End to the Duke Energy Trail on the East End, completing the connection from bay to beach.

A week before its official opening and despite the rain, Cheryl and Rob Engelschall hit the trail for a few miles of exercise.

“I think it’s exciting! Because it gives you a chance to go from here all the way to Tampa,” she said. “Get on a bike and go as far as you want.”

The trail will have its grand opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting, one week from today.
