Zagat survey shows many people would like restaurants to abolish tipping

Figures from a survey on dining trends show many people would like the practice of tipping your servers to end.

According to the 2018 National Dining Trends Survey by Zagat, 43% of those surveyed support efforts by restaurateurs to eliminate tips, in favor of higher menu prices, and hope the trend catches on.

The idea of ending tipping is not without its detractors, however. According to the same survey, 33% of those surveyed reportedly hate the idea, with diners in New Orleans, Miami, and Charleston hating it the most.

The survey also touched on the amount of tip people leave for their servers. Survey figures show nationally, people leave, on average, a tip of 18.1%.
