Valerie Mills
Valerie Mills joined FOX 13 in September 2023.
Born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Val’s love for meteorology started at an early age with a fascination for hurricanes and tropical weather. Her parents started calling her "Val the Weather Gal," and she grew into the nickname.
Valerie is a Florida State University graduate. Go Noles! She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and is currently earning her CBM Seal of Approval by the American Meteorological Society.
During her time as a Seminole, she interned at FOX 13 in Tampa and in Miami. She began her career in Tallahassee, reporting on all things weather, including Hurricane Michael’s 2018 landfall as a Category 5 in the Florida Panhandle.
She then spent four years in Colorado Springs, where she forecasted and covered everything from snow and hail to fires and tornadoes. Valerie’s coverage of the Waldo Canyon Fire earned her an Awards of Excellence from the Colorado Broadcasters Association in 2023.
When she’s not forecasting the weather, she’s out enjoying it! Val loves boating, hiking, and spending time with her two dogs.
