Mark Skol Jr.
Mark Skol, Jr. is a sports multimedia journalist for FOX 13.
Mark comes to Tampa from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he spent two years at the ABC affiliate WZZM-TV.
During his time in Beer City USA, Mark covered the Michigan Wolverines' run to the 2023 National Championship, the Detroit Lions' first playoff win in over 30 years and tons of high school sports.
Before Grand Rapids, he worked at WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana. Initially, Mark started at WNDU as an editor/photographer but worked his way up to the weekend sports anchor and then to sports director in one year in South Bend.
Since Mark worked at the NBC affiliate in South Bend, he was given the opportunity to host a pregame show before every home Notre Dame football game. In 2019, Mark and the WNDU sports team were given the Indiana Broadcasters Association's "Best Sports Coverage" award for their coverage of Fighting Irish football.
He even came to Tampa back in 2019 to cover the Notre Dame women's basketball team in the Final Four. He thought to himself, "Man, it would be awesome to work in this city!" Sure enough, he got the opportunity to join the FOX 13 team six years later.
Mark grew up in Houston, Texas and lived just down the road from NASA's Johnson Space Center. He is a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em!) and is excited to escape the Midwest winters for the Florida sunshine.
In his free time, Mark likes playing pickup basketball, talking trash about his friend's fantasy football teams (not just during football season) and watching his beloved Chicago sports teams.
Mark loves telling stories that are more than just what happened in the box score. If you ever have any story ideas, feel free to send Mark an email at mark.skol@fox.com.
