On TV at a game? There's an app for that

TAMPA (FOX 13) - There's the dance cam and the kiss cam.  Now there's the "I-didn't-know-I-was-going-to-be-on-TV" cam.

Cameras at sporting events broadcast fans' brief moments of celebrity. And until recently, they would be history. That is, unless you are swift enough to get out your cell phone or randomly set up the DVR.

But now, there's a free app for that. Your 15 seconds of fame is brought to you by "15 Seconds of Fame."

"We are about taking these moments that fans have, these epic moments that they never could previously receive, and delivering those," said Brett Josphe, CEO of 15 Seconds of Fame.

All you have to do is download the app on to your phone, create an account, and snap a selfie. 15 Seconds of Fame uses facial recognition to match that selfie with games you check into.

"And then all they have to do is open up the app, go into their 'My Fame' section of the app, and they'll see their content, they'll see the personalized video with images that we also extract from that video and then they can share all of that content on social media," said Joshpe.

The app captures all Major League Baseball telecasts, including the Rays. Caught on camera at a Buccaneers game? Anything that appears on the video board at Raymond James Stadium will show up in the app as well.

"As much as fans love athletes and they love celebrities, they really want to be a part of that experience themselves," continued Joshpe.

So for all those caught-on-camera moments when someone says, "photo or it didn't happen," there's now a way to have evidence it did.

"There's no better souvenir, there's no better takeaway or memento from that kind of experience, than seeing yourself on camera," Joshpe added.
