TAMPA (AP) - Quinton Flowers threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in his second career start to lead South Florida to a 51-3 victory over Florida A&M.
The Bulls' new up-tempo offense hurt itself early with three touchdowns called back because of penalties but came around as the defense stifled the FCS Rattlers, who had just one first down and 23 yards offense in the first half.
Flowers scrambled before finding D'Ernest Johnson for a 22-yard touchdown play. Flowers threw 45 yards to Johnson for another with 1:16 left in the half to lead 16-0.
Flowers ran 29 yards for a score before giving way to backup Steven Bench, who connected on a 62-yard pass play to Elkanah Dillon and ran 15 yards for another.
Marlon Mack rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown for USF, which scored its most points since a 54-24 win over UTEP in 2011.
