Tropics quiet, wind shear and cooler water temps

FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills says there’s a lot of wind shear moving off the coast of Florida. Water temperatures are reaching the 60s and 70s, even in the Caribbean, according to Mills.

Wave stirring up trouble in Caribbean

FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills says one small wave will bring some heavy rain and wind for parts of the southern Bahamas, Turks and Caicos. It is not expected to become a tropical storm, according to Mills.

FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills is watching a tropical system in the Caribbean that is expected to impact the Bahamas, parts of Haiti, Turks and Caicos and Eastern Cuba this weekend. It is expected to strengthen and has been deem Potential Tropical Cyclone 22. It is expected to strengthen and if it does become a tropical storm, it will be called Vince.

Tropical depression could form by the weekend

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is watching several areas in the tropics with two weeks left in the hurricane season. He says an area of low pressure in the Caribbean has been designated as Invest 98. He says it is possible that it will develop into a tropical system. Weber is also watching a non-tropical low off the coast of Florida that is expected to ride up the coastline of the United States. He expects it to produce rain and gusty winds, but says it is not likely to become tropical.

System off Florida’s coast could bring rain, wind

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is watching a few areas in the tropics with three weeks left in the 2023 hurricane season. He says there is a broad area of low pressure in the southwestern Caribbean that has a 50% chance of development over the next week. According to Weber, it could become either a tropical depression or a sub-tropical system by the end of the week. Weber is also watching an area of low pressure across the Gulf of Mexico that will meander. He also has his eye on another area just off Florida’s coastline that will likely become a non-tropical low. He says it will likely bring wind and rain to Florida as it works its way up the east coast.
