Tropical depression could form by end of week

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is keeping an eye on the tropics as the 2023 hurricane season winds down. He says while there are only 16 days left, there is a broad area of low pressure that is expected to form and could become a tropical depression by the end of the week. He says conditions are favorable due to light wind shear and warm waters. However, Weber says it is too soon to say how much it will strengthen.

Chance of development in southern Caribbean

According to meteorologist Valerie Mills, there's a 50% chance that a wave in the far southern Caribbean could become a tropical low by the end of the week. Mills says water conditions are favorable but the system will have to deal with wind shear.
