Two tropical waves form off Africa’s coast

With the peak of hurricane season one week away, FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is keeping his eye on the tropics. Tropical storms Gert and Katia are expected to weaken as they move into hostile environments. Tony is also watching two tropical waves that formed off the coast of Africa. One of the waves has an 80 percent chance of turning into a depression over the next seven days. Tony says it is too early to determine if it will affect Florida’s weather.

Tropics staying busy after Hurricane Idalia

FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is keeping his eyes on the tropics on Labor Day Weekend. Tony says a tropical wave coming off the coast of Africa could turn into something. He says there is a 70 percent chance it will turn into a storm in the next seven days. The next named storm would be Lee.

Friday tropics update

FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osterberg is watching the tropics heading into Labor Day weekend. A new tropical depression has formed off the coast of Africa. Dave says tropical depression 12 is expected to move northwest out to sea and fall apart. He says that while Hurricane Idalia did slightly cool water temperatures in the Gulf Coast, temperatures are still high. Things in the tropics should stay quiet for the holiday weekend.
