Tropical activity expected to ramp up

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says all is quiet in the tropics right now, but he expects things to pick up as we move through the 2023 hurricane season. He says there is a large area of dust off the coast of Africa that is expected to work its way across the Atlantic. That dust combined with wind shear is not conducive to tropical development at the moment.

Hurricanes expected in 2023 increases as water heats up

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says Colorado State has updated its 2023 hurricane season forecast and is now predicting more named storms and hurricanes. Even though El Nino is expected to peak as the season goes on, warm waters in the Atlantic and Caribbean will counteract the effects of El Nino. However, Weber says things are quiet in the tropics right now.

Storms are not expected to form over the next week since conditions are not ideal. If lighter wind shear and warm waters continue then chances of tropical developments will increase.
