Resident shoots blank rounds to scare vultures, scaring nesting birds in the process
The birds along Middle Lake in Sun City Center are a big attraction. Residents spend hours watching them. There are beautiful egrets, ibis, herons and cormorants. However, there are the not so beautiful turkey vultures known to damage roofs and windows where they roost. A resident got a permit to use pyrotechnics to scare them away. Thursday that resident was on a boat firing blank rounds trying to scare off vultures, which made other birds flee the area and concerns some nearby residents.
