County to make decision on Tampa Bay Express project
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A major transportation decision is expected to be made in Hillsborough County on Wednesday.
The Hillsborough Metropolitan Planning Organization will decide whether or not to approve funding for the Tampa Bay Express project.
Also known as TBX, the project would expand certain highways and add toll lanes to I-4 and the Howard Frankland.
Several neighborhoods, such as Seminole Heights, have been fighting to stop the project because construction would lead to the demolition of several homes and businesses.
If TBX funding is approved, construction isn't scheduled to start for several years.
