Hit and run suspect fires second attorney
TAMPA, Fla. - Defendant Jennifer Race has fired another attorney and is hoping her third attorney will be Barry Cohen.
The judge, though, wanted to know where he was Monday. "I'm waiting for him to come see me to sign the paperwork," explained Race.
MORE: Hit and run suspect arrested for being tardy
Race, accused of being involved in a hit and run crash that killed 83-year-old Lawrence Lockhart in 2015, was in court again Monday.
After being tardy several times to court, she was arrested and kept in jail.
Deputies released surveillance video from a nearby gas station showing Race, apparently hitching a ride away from the scene.
Waiting for justice is the victim's son, David Lockhart. "It's frustrating for all of us, yeah, really frustrating," said Lockhart.
He's watched Race juggle attorney after attorney but one thing he says remains constant: "She's in jail now so as long as she stays there I'm good with that," explained Lockhart.
