Lexi Layton is doing something a lot of 8-year-old kids may not even attempt. She started her own business baking dog treats.

Layton said she came up with "Lexi and Teddy's Tail Waggin' Treats" after an entrepreneur day at her school.

"It made me think that kids could make their own business," Lexi explained.

She aims to make her product a healthy choice for four-legged friends.

"They have no preservatives in there. We got all fresh and we made our own pumpkin," she described.

Lexi is also incorporating philanthropy into her business. She donates a portion of her proceeds to the K-9 Partners For Patriots.

"They give dogs like guide dogs to veterans and they give them for free, which we really like," she said.
