Man arrested after deadly hit-and-run crash

KENNETH CITY (FOX 13) - Pinellas County deputies have arrested a Kenneth City man who they say hit and killed a pedestrian before leaving the scene of a crash.

It happened near the intersection of 49th Ave. N. and 61st Ln. N. in Kenneth City Sunday morning, shortly before 11:00 a.m.  Deputies say 21-year-old Tyler Johnson got into a fight with 19-year-old Sean McCasland.  At some point, Johnson got into a pickup and tried to drive away.

When McCasland tried to hang onto the truck, deputies say Johnson kept driving and ran over McCasland when he fell off.  

McCasland was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive.  Investigators tracked Johnson down and arrested him.  He's in the Pinellas County Jail facing charges including Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death.
