New vision for St. Pete Pier Approach revealed
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - The St. Pete Pier is beginning to taking shape and Tuesday, members of the community gathered for a Pier workshop to give input on the Pier Approach.
Architects are working on the Pier Approach - which will connect downtown to the waterfront. New renderings were released at the meeting.
Some of the elements include art spaces, waterfront dining and an open air market.
St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman says the goal is to get it right the first time.
“I’m very pleased from what we said in the beginning. What we thought went wrong from the first time is, we got concerned with the form over function and now we're focusing on the function,” Mayor Rick Kriseman said.
Officials said they hope to wrap up their collection of ideas and concepts for the pier approach by June.
