Oregon zoo's old-timer leopard gets help scratching his back
PORTLAND, Ore. (STORYFUL) - A 19-year-old Amur leopard at the Portland Zoo in Oregon can’t groom himself like he used to.
Luckily, his caretakers are up to the task.
In a video shared on the zoo’s Twitter page, Borris the leopard clearly loves a good back scratch.
A caretaker sticks a backscratcher through the grate on his enclosure. He knows just what to do, turning his back and side toward the grate.
According to the zoo, Borris cannot groom himself properly due to his age.
The zoo says Borris' backscratcher is made from bamboo and he always lets them know the exact spots to get.
According to the zoo, Borris is one of the oldest Amur leopards on the planet. While he's doing quite well for his age, there are believed to be fewer than 100 of his species in the wild.
