Pit bull puppy beaten, stabbed and stuffed in suitcase
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Police in Florida want to know who stuffed a beaten and stabbed pit bull puppy in a suitcase and left him to die.
Hollywood police spokeswoman Miranda Grossman tells news outlets that officers traced the puppy's cries Tuesday to a blue suitcase that was left behind an abandoned building. Inside, they found the bloody dog with deep cuts on his head and body.
Grossman says they took the dog, now named Ollie, to an animal hospital.
She says Ollie is about a year old and will be neutered and micro-chipped as soon as medically possible.
“We’ll close up the wounds that he has on his chest, so he has, probably like, 20 to 30 stab wounds on his chest and his right front leg, and so, that’s the next step,” Dr. Nicole Patterson told WSVN.
Meantime, police urge anyone with information about what happened to Ollie to contact investigators.
The not-for-profit organization Grateful Paws Dog and Cat Rescue is handling the cost of Ollie's medical care. a GoFundMe has already raised $25,000 for him.
He will eventually be adopted by a forever family, but for now, the organization is looking for a foster home for Ollie while he recovers.
