Plans for Clearwater waterfront unveiled
CLEARWATER (FOX 13) - Major changes could be coming to the waterfront in downtown Clearwater.
As it sits now – city leaders says the current, Coachman Park is under developed – and has the potential to revitalize downtown.
The new plan is almost three times the size of the current park and includes a larger venue for concerts and other events.
Clearwater hopes to bring more tourists to the downtown area something Connie Lehmer, a small business owner is in support of.
“I think it’s awesome,” Lehmer said. “It would bring more people downtown, they have a lot of events in that park and it needs to be bigger.”’
Consultants over the project presented a draft to city council Tuesday.
They’ll next hold several town-hall style meetings with the community. It then goes back to city council to be approved for a city referendum vote.
