Register your bike event: bike theft prevention

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is helping bike owners deter bike thefts. 

They're holding a free bicycle registration event Saturday, Aug. 15 at Citrus Park Bikes located at 7424 Edgemere Rd. in Tampa from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. 

The event allows people to register their bikes so that if their bike is ever reported lost or stolen, it will increase the chances of it being returned.

Deputies say anyone can report a lost or stolen bike to the department's non-emergency number at (813) 247-8200.
