Carter said in a statement released on Twitter Sunday night he feels his "celebrity" was targeted when deputies arrested Saturday night. He also slammed brother Nick Carter's response to the situation.

According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Carter's vehicle was stopped along Georgia 385 near Carpenters Cove after reports of a car driving erratically. A passenger also inside the car was identified as Madison Parker, Carter's girlfriend, according to TMZ.

Deputies said the couple was en route to North Carolina from Florida. Carter was scheduled to perform in Kansas City that night, tweeting hours before his show that he wouldn't make it due to "transportation issues."

According to Carter's statement on Twitter, his vehicle's tire went out of alignment, so he drove to the nearest Auto Zone in Cornelia.

"After being at the store and requesting help to get his alignment fixed, he was arrested inside by several police officers with aggression," Carter's statement said. "The police also revoked his rights to have an attorney."

Carter was charged with DUI and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and drug-related objects. Parker was also arrested on charges of possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and drug-related objects and obstruction.

"Aaron holds a medical license for medical marijuana for his long standing anxiety," the statement said.

Carter was released on bond on Sunday afternoon. In his statement, he apologized for inconveniencing his fans and said lost dates will be made up. He also said he'll continue traveling with Parker to promote his single "Sooner or Later," with his next stop being Alabama on Tuesday.

Following his arrest, Carter's older brother, Nick Carter, took to Twitter to reach out to his sibling.

"I am here and willing to help you get better," said Nick Carter, who's a former member of the boy band Backstreet Boys.

In his statement on Sunday, Aaron Carter slammed his brother for making the public remarks.

"If my own blood (Nick) truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn't he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum? That's not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down. I love my family despite it through thick and thin."
