St. Pete patrol car hit while officer helped driver
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - A St. Petersburg police patrol car was hit on the Howard Frankland Bridge early Saturday morning.
The officer pulled over around 2:30 a.m. to help another driver whose vehicle had broken down. That's when another vehicle hit the patrol car and the disabled vehicle from behind.
After the crash, the two personal vehicles caught fire. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The bridge was blocked by emergency crews for a few hours, but it has since reopened.
