Students help peers 'read, repeat'
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Two Tampa fifth-graders are hoping to change the lives of other students through books.
Chase Hartman and Vance Tomasi learned during their summer break that some kids in their community don't even own their own books. So they came up with "Read. Repeat."
"When they read them, they might want to give them to someone else, so they are repeating and somebody else is reading," Chase explained.
The Mary Bryant Elementary students relied on local businesses and avid readers like themselves for donations. They circulate the gently used books to local schools, nursing homes, and hospitals.
The boys want to collect 20,000 books by February.
