Toast of Tampa: Ladies sing loud and proud

Tampa is home to one of the best female choruses in the world. The angelic sounds from the Toast of Tampa Show Chorus include more than 100 strong female voices coming together to make a sweet melody.

"We are passionate; we are full of energy. We love music; we love each other,” offered Beth Curtis, a chorus member.

The chorus started making beautiful harmony back in 1987.  Earlier this year, they won first place in Sweet Adelines International's Coastal Harmony regional competition.

"It’s probably one of the best feelings in the world," said Gina Baker, who has been a member since 2003. "To be up there sharing your craft and your joy of the messages."

Sophia Derosa's father is the director of the chorus. The 13-year-old couldn't wait to join the group. "It’s really fun. It’s great."

"I think I came out of the womb singing," said Gina Baker, who has been singing Barbershop music since she was 5. "Singing and music has been a part of my life. My entire life."

The chorus will be heading to New Orleans to participate in the international competition later this year.
