Two teens were struck by lightning in Clearwater Beach during Tuesday afternoon's storms, and a visiting nurse may have saved at least one of their lives.

It was around 4:30 p.m. when the bolt struck the two at Sand Key.   A woman who said she was a nurse visiting from Pennsylvania recalled seeing the lightning strike from her high-rise balcony, then rushing to help the victims.

"I saw one boy laying flat on his belly and I'm yelling, 'Are you OK?' and the [other] kid said, 'No, help, help!" Cassandra Thomas said.

Thomas said that the young man was not breathing and had no pulse, so she started CPR until emergency crews arrived.

"By the time he left, he had a pulse," she added.

"I was thinking about my own children too, but i just had to go help him."

Both teens are now being treated at Tampa General Hospital.

Cameron Poimboeuf, 15, of Charlotte, North Carolina is in critical condition.

Jansen M. Tabor, 18, of Matthews, North Carolina, is in good condition.

Poimboeuf was visiting the area with his girlfriend's family when the incident occurred.

Tabor is a family member of the girlfriend.  He was able to tell police that the two were walking on the beach when the storm rolled in. As the rain began to fall, they made a dash for shelter. The next thing that Tabor knew, he woke up on the sand after the lightning strike.
