Winter Haven man impregnates underage girl twice, deputies say
WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) - A Winter Haven man was arrested for impregnating a minor twice, deputies say.
Polk County deputies arrested 33-year-old James McArthur Johnson for several charges including impregnating a child, sexual battery and lewd and lascivious battery. They said all the crimes were against the same victim, who had an ongoing relationship with Johnson.
Deputies said her second pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage, and is when her parents became aware of the relationship. When deputies approached Johnson’s home they noticed Johnson handing a small bag to a bicyclist, who left after stuffing it into his pocket.
Deputies said they spoke to the bicyclist, who said Johnson sold him synthetic marijuana. They said they observed a second person approach the home, and it appeared a similar transaction occurred. That person said Johnson is a known drug dealer with several firearms, according to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office media release.
"This is a violent, dangerous man,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a media release. “We hope his next trip to state prison is a lengthy one - he clearly does not know how to obey any law. He's what you call a true menace to society."
During a search of his home, deputies said they found two loaded guns, marijuana, and photos of the child he fathered with the underage victim, and the hospital band belonging to the victim when she delivered the baby. Johnson also faces charges including possession and trafficking drugs.
According to his arrest history, deputies said he is a convicted felon and has been to state prison three times.
