Parkland school shooting suspect can't be called 'animal,' judge rules

Defense attorneys for Nikolas Cruz, accused of murdering 17 students and staff at a Parkland high school, wanted prosecutors and witnesses barred from calling him "an animal," "that thing," or "the killer" at trial. They also didn't want the killings to be referred to as "a massacre" or "a tragedy." While the judge agreed that the words "animal" and "thing" shouldn't be used, she said their other requests went too far.
