Parkland judge thanks victims' families for patience, restraint throughout trial
Moments before sentencing Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz to life in prison without the possibility of parole, Broward Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer took a moment to thank the families and loved ones of the victims, acknowledging how they had been ordered not to react in court during the trial and showed 'extraordinary restraint' as a result. "If I could take your pain away or carry your pain just for five minutes so that you could breathe, I would, because I can't even imagine what you go through each day," she said.
