Gearing up for Gasparilla

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Arrrrgh you ready for Gasparilla? If not, it’s time to start stocking up; the Gasparilla kids’ parade is this weekend.

And while everyone knows beads are a must for pint-sized pirates, shops like the South Tampa Trading Company have a wide variety of other pirate-themed gear – everything from costumes, jewelry, and shirts to hats and even home décor.

But owner Anne Bartlett says she tries to keep it local.

“Everyone is entertaining right now but everybody wants their party to have that certain special touch. So we do a lot of customized things, we do a lot of things that are specific just to Tampa,” she explained. “I like to work with a lot of local artists and artisans to provide all of the different things that we have.”
