Recipe: Chicken teriyaki and cheese panini sandwich

While Green Bay fans like their cheese, there are teriyaki shops everywhere in Seattle.  So when the Packers go up against the Seahawks on FOX’s Thursday Night Football this week, you can enjoy this cheesy teriyaki panini as a mashup of both worlds.

The sweet taste of teriyaki blends perfectly with spicy cheese like pepper jack, says Ray Lampe – better known as Dr. BBQ.  He’s got some tips on making a delicious homemade teriyaki sauce to help celebrate this week’s game. 

INGREDIENTS:

16 slices cheese
8 pieces bread
Mayo

Teriyaki Glaze
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup honey
2 tablespoons mirin
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, crushed
2 teaspoons cornstarch
¼ cup water

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Make teriyaki glaze in pan. Pour over chicken in bowl. Mix.
  2. Spread mayo on outside of bread.
  3. Assemble sandwiches.
  4. Grill them.
