Brush fire closes part of Hillsborough Avenue
TAMPA (FOX13) - Firefighters were busy Monday morning watching for hot spots at the scene of a brush fire in Hillsborough County.
The fire started Sunday near West Hillsborough Avenue at Montague Street, closing parts of Hillsborough. Troopers had been detouring drivers onto Montague Street, east to Waters Avenue and then south on Sheldon Road to get back on Hillsborough Avenue.
As of Monday afternoon, two eastbound lanes of West Hillsborough Avenue had reopened.
Authorities have not said what started the fire. However, with drier than usual conditions and lightning strikes being a daily occurrence, the threat of more brush fires is a reality.
