Cops seek suspect in Tampa double shooting
TAMPA (FOX 13) - TPD searching for suspects in early a.m. shooting
Police are investigating after an overnight shooting in Northeast Tampa Friday.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. at the Silver Oak Apartments near 43rd Street and Hillsborough Avenue. Investigators say an anonymous 911 caller alerted Tampa Police.
Officers arrived and found a man and woman shot. Medics transported the victims to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Both victims are expected to survive.
Crime scene technicians spent hours taking pictures and collecting evidence. The scene stretched the length of the complex parking lot and included the sidewalk on 43rd Street.
Investigators collected more than half a dozen shell casings for processing. Officials say a disturbance led to the shooting, but the motive remains unclear.
Authorities continue their search for the suspects with limited information. Detectives are now looking to see if surveillance cameras outside the apartment buildings reveal any clues.
The relationship between the male and female victim is not known. However, police say the female victim lived at the Silver Oak Apartment complex. She is recovering from a gunshot to the chest. A bullet struck the male victim's hand and another struck his arm, passing through his chest.
The pair remain hospitalized.
FOX 13 will continue with updates as they become available.
