Fast food restaurants use stunt food to compete with convenient delivery options

When it comes to fast-food, more is better. Maybe not the calories, but for the menu items there for a limited time. Some of them are so outrageous they seem like blatant dares.  Your body may ask “why?!”  afterwards, but there is a reason.

Arby’s recently introduced the Smokehouse Mountain sandwich, which piles smoked brisket, turkey and pork belly on a bun.

It joins the ranks of Taco Bell’s waffle tacos, Pizza Hut’s hot dog stuffed crust pizzas and KFC’s bacon cheeseburger between a fried chicken “bun”.

Fast-food fusion such as this is known as “stunt food,” and the trend is designed to lure customers back into fast-food restaurants.

As easy as the drive thru may be, there are more convenient delivery options through online apps, like GrubHub, that can be ordered without leaving home.

Sports stadiums have also gotten in on the action of stunt food, and go even further. Big game, bigger food.

The Texas Rangers offered select creations for designated seating sections this post-season. Like the Popcornopolis Pita with smoked brisket & mac-n-cheese on pita bread and topped off with caramel popcorn.

There is no guarantee that you’ll be able to walk after these meals, but at least they got you there.
