Father, two children killed in fiery crash at I-75 overpass
TAMPA (FOX 13) - The Florida Highway Patrol said a father and two children were killed when a vehicle left Interstate 75 and crashed onto a street below early Sunday morning.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on I-75 northbound near State Road 60 in the Brandon area.
Troopers said 31-year-old driver Ronald Green II lost control of his 2005 Maserati and struck a guardrail and concrete barrier before the vehicle fell off an overpass to Woodberry Road below.
FHP said the vehicle caught fire after crashing and two children in the car were killed. They have been identified as 9-year-old Sariyah Green and 5-year-old Ronald Green III.
The driver, the children's father, was ejected from the vehicle when it fell off the highway. He was also pronounced deceased at the scene. The only survivor was identified as 26-year-old Tiffany Young, the children's mother. Young was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition.
FHP said the crash is believed to be alcohol-involved and is under investigation.
