Gun and kitchen knife found in Azalea Middle School student's backpack: SPPD
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla - A 13-year-old student at Azalea Middle School was arrested Tuesday after a gun and kitchen knife were found in his backpack, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Investigators say that no threats to students or the school were made by the 8th grade boy.
He has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on school property.

St. Pete police say the safety of students is a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, will be thoroughly investigated.
Officials say that this serves as a reminder to students that law enforcement takes these matters very seriously and the consequences could be severe.
