Heavy rain creates 'Cow Island' in flooded Sarasota pasture

Some unlucky cows were stranded by rising waters in Sarasota Tuesday.

Drone video taken by Kevin Angell shows dozens of cows gathered on a spot of high ground while others waded through the high waters toward drier pastures.

The so-called “Cow Island” was formed in pastures at Palmer Boulevard and Ioana Road. It was not immediately known to whom the cows and pasture belonged.

Days of almost-endless rain left the cows stranded with little food and little or no shelter.
