Local crews headed to Texas to assist with rescues

Emergency crews from Tampa, Hillsborough and St. Petersburg Fire Rescue are heading to Texas to help with recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey.

Officials from Texas have requested, through a pre-existing agreement, the use of 2 swift water rescue teams along with support staff. In all, our area will be sending 18 members and 7 logistical staff members to assist with search and rescue efforts.

Some parts of Texas could see up to 40 more inches of rain this week.

They are scheduled to be in Texas until September 6th.
