New app launched for Bay Area job-seekers, employers

Finding a new job can now be done with just the swipe of a finger.

A Tampa-based company called Monikl has created an app that takes some of the work out of searching for work.

Creator Zach Senz Kamler grew up with parents who both worked in the staffing industry. He said he learned the business from a young age, including its flaws.

"It's a giant inefficiency," Kamler said. "For a candidate, you go on [job searching websites], you type in a keyword, and you get giant lists of results. You have to manually look through each result and determine if you're a good fit."

The job searching process can be overwhelming for some people, including job recruiters, who are regularly swamped with hundreds of resumes.

The Monikl website and app, Senz Kamler said, takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process for everyone.

Kamler says it would take a job seeker about 15 minutes to input their information. Monikl uses data analytics to find jobs matching each person's interests, experience, location, and salary preferences.

"We measure your personality. We measure your preferences of workplace environment," explained Senz Kamler.

The app is free to job seekers. Companies only pay if they hire someone through Monikl.

Since launching last March, Kamler said there are more than 25,000 candidates using Monikl.

The majority of jobs are office and information technology positions based in the Bay Area. Kamler hopes to expand his app to include jobs in Orlando and Miami.

"At the end of the day, everyone needs a job and we want to help as many people as we can by basically putting them in a job that they're actually happy with," Kamler said.

The Monikl app is available for download in the app store on Apple and Android devices.
