Residents in Lutz dealing with flooding

Hurricane Irma is long gone, and while many are just starting to have their power turned back on neighborhood is dealing with another problem – flooding.

Street flooding has been a major problem on Lagoon Drive in Lutz.  Water hasn’t gotten inside any homes but it’s made transportation impossible for small vehicles.

Residents say drains couldn’t handle all of the storm water from Irma, and the pump station to get all of this out of here has no power.

The county and city government has been slammed with storm recovery, but Mitchell Wester is hoping his neighborhood gets bumped up on the priority list.

“It’s pretty difficult for me and my wife,” Wester said.  “We have a ten month old and foster dogs from a local rescue.”

The county and the public works office for Lutz couldn’t be reached for comment this Sunday.
