Florida teen arrested for 'horrific killing' of dog given to him by friend, deputies say

A 16-year-old boy in Florida was arrested for the "horrific killing" of a dog over the weekend, the Martin County Sheriff's Office said in a social media update.

Authorities said the dog had been given to him by a friend. The killing was reportedly captured on video.

"The details associated with this case are so disturbing that we are unable to disclose them on social media," the sheriff's office wrote. "However, we can tell you that a video of the brutal stabbing and subsequent violent death of the helpless animal was recorded."

Investigators said the video showed the dog tied to a tree with a deep stab wound. The teen's voice can also be heard on the recording, which ended up on social media.

The teen reportedly expressed a desire to keep the dog's skull as a "mount," deputies said.

The teen was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice and faces a felony charge of animal cruelty.
