Guns stolen from Auburndale home
AUBURNDALE (FOX 13) - Adriana Shadrick is so uncomfortable in her own home, she now always keeps her gun at her side.
Her angst began after 35 guns were stolen from her home in Auburndale a week and a half ago.
She and her husband Jackie, a firearms instructor in Lakeland, were out when the burglars broke in.
Jackie walked in first. When Adriana walked in a minute or so after him she saw Jackie with a gun in his hand.
"I knew something was wrong," she told FOX 13.
They had been burglarized. Investigators say the thieves knocked on the front door. When no one answered, they went to the back of the home where they would less likely to be seen, broke a window and got in.
They pryed open the couple's bedroom and closet doors, and hauled out a 300 plus pound safe. Since moving the safe was such a big project, investigators suspect 2 or more people were involved.
Detectives say the Shadrick burglary may be connected to at least 3 others in Winter Haven and Polk County.
On Wednesday, investigators released the photos of 2 cars that may have been used in the break ins. One is a white Lincoln Towncar with a beige top. The model could be 1998-2001. The second car is a white Chevy Malibu, 2007-2009.
