INCREDIBLE RESCUE: Coast Guard saves dog from icy water

Much of the Mitten is blanketed in snow but the cold doesn't stop the United States Coast Guard.

They dove right in save a Labrador struggling in the ice.

Tuesday morning, the Coast Guard was the first on the scene at Betsie River channel near Lake Michigan in Frankfort to rescue the stranded pup.

Standing on the coast were employees with the Oliver Art Center who recorded the above videos.

In the video, you can see one of the Coast Guard members has a grip on the dog while being reeled in to the coast. Another member swims ahead to clear the chunky ice out of the way.

The dog is handed off to another member and quickly wrapped in a blanket.

According to mlive, the dog was not micochipped or tagged.
