Overturned truck carrying sod closes I-275 exit ramp in St. Pete

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A semi truck overturned on the 118th Avenue/Roosevelt Boulevard exit ramp, on Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg, covering the ramp with sod. 

The view from SkyFOX showed a large crane truck turn the vehicle upright as a small skid steer loader worked to scoop the spilled sod into a dumpster. 

The Florida Highway Patrol said the truck was going too fast around the curve of the exit ramp, causing it to overturn.

A trooper said the trailer's tires were also worn to an unsafe degree.

The driver was cited for careless driving/failing to maintain control of his vehicle due to an unsafe speed.

No injuries were reported.
