#BlackLivesMatter protesters block traffic in Sarasota
SARASOTA (FOX 13) - Activists blocked the streets in Sarasota as part of a national #BlackLivesMatter day of protest Thursday evening.
Photos and video of the protest showed dozens holding printed signs reading "Justice 4 Rodney Mitchell," "Justice 4 Alton Sterling," "Justice 4 Philando Castile," and names of other black men whose shooting deaths at the hands of police officers across the country have sparked outrage.
At one point protesters could be seen blocking cars from moving through the street, but police officers came to clear the roadway.
Meanwhile, protesters chanted, "hey hey, ho ho, these killer cops have got to go."
No arrests or violence had been reported.
