Car hits and kills Lakland bicyclist
LAKELAND (FOX 13) - A bicyclist is killed after being hit by a car in Lakeland.
The Lakeland Police Department responded to the 4400 block of South Florida Avenue just after 7 p.m. Monday night.
The driver of a 2016 Ford Fusion, identified as Candice Joan Taylor, was traveling southbound on South Florida Avenue.
Near Highland Drive police say Taylor's car hit the bicycle as it crossed in the pedestrian crosswalk which was flashing red at the time.
The bicyclist was thrown from his bicycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Chad Michael Darling of Lakeland,
No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
