Investigation underway into fatal crash on Interstate 75
VENICE (FOX 13) - Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that closed a highway for hours.
After 8 p.m. on Thursday, a multi-vehicle crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County near Venice. At least one person died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Northbound lanes were shut down between Laurel Road and State Road 681 for nearly 12 hours, but reopened on Friday morning.
No other details were provided, including the cause of crash or victim identities.
