A stretch of Interstate 75 was completely shut down after a deadly crash early Thursday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the single-vehicle crash happened north of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in the southbound lanes just after 3:30 a.m.

Investigators say the driver, 43-year-old Paul Braga, lost control of his truck for unknown reasons and swerved into the median, causing him to crash into the guardrail.

They say he was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the car. He passed away at the scene.

His passenger, 21-year-old Sonia Michele Braga, was treated for minor injuries.

Officials shut down the entire roadway as a result, but have since reopened the northbound lanes and at leats one southbound lane.

FOX 13 will continue with updates as they become available.
