Tampa Police search for car tied to murder mystery

For 30 years William Leslie McGoff worked as a registered nurse.

He also pulled duty at Lifepath Hospice in Tampa, and was involved in Alcoholics Anonymous as a sponsor.
 
When you boil it down, almost everything he did was about making other people's lives better.

"He's an outstanding person couldn't say anything bad about him," said neighbor Shawna Smith.

It makes his murder, that much more of a mystery.

Police performed a welfare check on him Monday only to discover his lifeless body inside his house. 

Police aren't saying how the 53 year old died, though they believe he and his killer knew each other previously. 

McGoff's car is also missing. 

"There is a specific car and tag number we're looking we're assuming if we find the car that will tells something about who took it and who did the murder," said Tampa Police spokesperson Steve Hegarty.

They're looking for a 2013 black Hyundai Sonata with Florida tags 113-VFT.

"It is very scary not knowing it is very scary, "said Smith. 

Scary knowing, someone who gave so much to others was taken away in such a ruthless manner.

"If he met you today he'd say come have Thanksgiving at my house," Smith said.

There is a $3,000 Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to an arrest.
