Walmart tip leads to credit card fraud suspects
SARASOTA (FOX 13) - A Tampa trio with dozens of fake credit cards is now behind bars after a tip from Walmart employees led investigators to them, deputies say.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Cattlemen Road store Tuesday evening after managers reported the suspicious activity. A search of the suspects' car turned up 33 fake credit cards, 15 gift cards, and nearly $9,000 in cash.
Detectives arrested Maronte Gilbert, 22; Carlos Goodman, 22; and Skyler Waits, 23. Each was charged with trafficking in counterfeit credit cards.
Deputies said Waits has an "extensive" history of arrests across the country for theft, fraud, and forgery. She also faces a charge of fraudulent use of personal identification.
